This song was written by Dominic Behan to the tune of 'The Jackets Green'. It tells of the Irish who emigrated over to England, and ended up in the construction industry, frequently exploited, working in bad and dangerous conditions. McAlpine, Wimpey and John Laing were major employers of the Irish.
