Mount Vernon, Wash. has been dealing with the issue of whether to expand its borders into prime farmland. After a city council meeting on May 28 in Mount Vernon, Cookson Beecher of Capital Press interviewed Allen Rozema. Rozema is the director of Skagitonians to Preserve Farmland. He warned the pressure of the city to expand, and the impact on farmland, won't go away.
