The Border War of 2007 was a game whose magnitude had never been reached before, and may not be matched again. For the first time ever, Mizzou faced kansas in football with both teams in the Top 10 (in fact, both were in the Top 5). Missouri emerged victorious 36-28, and found themselves ranked #1 the next day.
Missouri defeats Nebraska 41-6 to improve to 5-0 on the season. This is the 2nd year in a row Missouri has started 5-0, which has never happened before in Mizzou history. Gary Pinkel is now only the 2nd coach in Mizzou history to ever have 2 different 5-0 seasons, the other being the legendary Dan Devine.
Highlights of the Missouri Tigers 2007 season. The Tigers finished 12-2, Big XII North Champions, won the Cotton Bowl and finished #4 in the final AP Poll. This is almost without any doubt the best season ever for the Mizzou football program.
The Missouri Tigers defeat the kansas jayhawks 42-17 on November 25, 2006, in Columbia, MO. This brought an end to a 3-year drought against the hated jayhawks, and dropped them to 6-6 on the year preventing them from going to a bowl game. Mizzou improved to 8-4 and will face Oregon State in the Sun Bowl.
Missouri defeats the Arkansas Razorbacks 38-7 on New Year's Day in the Cotton Bowl. Tony Temple set Cotton Bowl records with 281 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs.
Missouri breaks a losing streak in Manhattan, ks, that dates back to 1989 by defeating the Wildcats 49-32. With the win, the Tigers are now 10-1 on the year and will face ku for the right to play in the Big XII Championship Game.
Missouri demolishes Colorado 55-10 in Boulder, moving up to #6 in the BCS with a 8-1 record. This is the first time Mizzou has been 8-1 since 1969, and the highest they've ever been ranked in the BCS.
Missouri defeats Texas Tech 41-10 on Homecoming in 2007. Mizzou is now 6-1 on the season and absolutely destroyed the #1 offense in the country, holding them 40 points below their average.
Mizzou twice erases 21-point deficits to defeat South Carolina 38-31 in the 2005 Independence Bowl. In Brad Smith's final game as a Missouri Tiger, he helps keep Missouri's dominance over Steve Spurrier alive.
